Quote of the Week

Fucking hilarious:

"I will tell one thing, from 9/12/01 until the time President Obama raised his right hand January of '09, the man kept us safe. And there -- you certainly can't say that since President Obama has taken the oath of office."
-- Eric Bolling of Fox News, praising George W. Bush.

Don't you just love the Radical Right's ability to gloss over the 9-11 Attacks -- which occurred during Bush's presidency -- as a virtual non-event?

With the Bush Presidential Library about to open, we are going to be hearing a lot of this kind of crap in the coming days. Of course, all this type of talk is more than simply an attempt to rehabilitate one of the worst presidents in our country's history -- it's also an assault on President Blackenstein and a not-so-subtle attempt to blame him for the Boston bombings.

I'll say this much:  if the radical right produces evidence that Obama, a few weeks prior to the bombings, was handed a memo saying "Two Disgruntled Men of Chechnyan Descent Determined to Bomb Boston Marathon" -- and it turns out that Obama responded to the persons who handed him the memo by saying, "OK, you've covered your ass" -- then I'll listen to what the Extreme Right has to say on this issue.

The bottom line here is that Bush got a warning just like that one prior to the 9-11 Attacks, he made the "cover your ass" statement and then did nothing in response to the warning, and 3000 people were killed. That's one of the reasons he has earned -- and will retain -- his spot as one of our worst presidents.  Of course, letting bin Laden escape at Tora Bora and then responding to the 9-11 Attacks by invading Iraq won't help his standing much either.
