The town of Longview, Texas paid Nugent $16,000 to not appear at the town's Fourth of July Festival. According to KLTV, a city spokesman said Nugent was "not the right feel for this kind of community event."Needless to say, it's a pretty solid scam on Nugent's part. All he need do is agree to perform somewhere, and then make racists comments about the President, and next thing you know folks are paying him not to show up. Well played, Ted.
The city had reached a verbal agreement with Nugent, scheduling the rocker as the headliner who would play inside the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center during the town's Independence Day celebration. To break that agreement, the town paid Nugent half of his guaranteed performance fee of $32,000 from Maude Cobb's annual budget.
The move comes amid criticism of comments Nugent made about President Barack Obama in January 2014, calling him a "subhuman mongrel." Nugent, who campaigned with Texas Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott amid the controversy, apologized for those comments in February.

The best part about watching the antics of this jackass is that I always hated his music, so I never had the hangover associated with an entertainer I really liked descending into neoconservative lunacy in an attempt to stay relevant (e.g. Dennis Miller, who I'm STILL sad about...). And I don't have genetic results at my fingertips, but I think a white American from the corn belt is likely to more closely approximate a mongrel than a dude who can trace half his lineage to a reasonably stable, single African source. Let's let behavior speak to the subhuman part. Well played indeed.

I especially like the comments by the idiots that pretty much saturate the internets. And I have to admit I chuckled at some tea-bagger a$$h0le's joke:
"A mongrel, and Marxist, and a Muslim go into a bar. The bartender says, “What will you have Mr. President?"
That joke sort of pokes fun at how the Baggers can't really figure out what to call the hated Obama, so they call him everything in the book.
