Foley Scandal Claims Another Victim

Well, CNN is reporting that Kirk Fordham, the chief of staff to Rep. Tom Reynolds, has resigned due to the fallout from Rep. Mark Foley's sex messages to a teenage page. Reynolds is the Republican Congressional Committee Chairman.

Fordham said he resigned because Democrats are trying to make him an issue in Reynolds' reelection campaign -- and that he isn't going to let them. It therefore looks like the GOP strategy will be to let the aides take the blame for this debacle and then have the aides turn around and blame the Democrats. I guess we'll see how that strategy plays out. [Correction: ABC is now reporting that Fordham was fired].

The GOP's "Let's Blame The Democrats" strategy got a little help from FauxNews yesterday. Faux is identifying Foley as a Democrat (see photo on left). I guess the GOP figures that its base is stupid enough to be taken in by such a ploy. I can't argue with that.

Let's see if I got it right -- the GOP covers this whole Foley thing up in order to protect a House seat, and then blames the Democrats for taking political advantage of the situation once Foley was revealed as a kid diddler. I love it.
