Hilarious

Please God -- let this happen:
"Several conservative House Republican members are contemplating a plan to unseat Speaker John Boehner from his position on January 3," Breitbart News reports.

"Staffers have compiled a detailed action plan that, if executed, could make this a reality... Dissatisfaction with Boehner is growing in the House Republican conference, but until now there hasn't been a clear path forward."
Just yesterday I told someone that Boehner's job as Speaker is safe because who the hell would want it. But now it sounds like some radical right wingers want to put one of their own in that post, and I say that would be great because it should speed up the end of the GOP.

The Republican Party is dying, and the sooner we can pull the plug on it the better it will be for the country.

And speaking of a dying Republican Party:

Good Riddance

I'm glad to see this guy go:
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) is leaving the Senate in January to run the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in Washington. “I’m leaving the Senate now, but I’m not leaving the fight,” DeMint said in a statement. “I’ve decided to join The Heritage Foundation at a time when the conservative movement needs strong leadership in the battle of ideas.”
I think it is somewhat ironic that The Asshole DeMint will be running the Heritage Foundation, which is the conservative think-tank that came up with the Individual MandateAs reported here on numerous occasions, DeMint was a supporter of the Individual Mandate prior to Obama a Black Man being elected president.

This Chart Pretty Much Says It All . . .

From the new Pew-Washington Post poll:

It's poll results like this that actually make me believe that Obama might stick to his guns this time.

By the way, this is hilarious:

Why is the Grover Norquist Pledge Even An Issue Right Now?

Grover Norquist’s anti-tax pledge --  which stipulates that those who sign will never ever vote to raise taxes under any circumstance -- has been in the news a lot lately with regard to fiscal cliff issues, and I just don't get it.

There is no scenario currently out there where a Republican would have to vote to increase taxes on anyone.  This is because the Bush Tax Cuts will expire at the end of the year.  Therefore, the only vote a Republican might make is a vote to cut taxes, like the vote Obama is asking for right now which would cut taxes for 98% of Americans.  A Republican could vote for that proposal without voting to raise taxes on anyone.

And with regard to fiscal cliff issues, all I can say about this comment from Michael Grunwald is amen (via Kevin Drum):
It’s really amazing to see political reporters dutifully passing along Republican complaints that President Obama’s opening offer in the fiscal cliff talks is just a recycled version of his old plan, when those same reporters spent the last year dutifully passing along Republican complaints that Obama had no plan. It’s even more amazing to see them pass along Republican outrage that Obama isn’t cutting Medicare enough, in the same matter-of-fact tone they used during the campaign to pass along Republican outrage that Obama was cutting Medicare.
I'm so very tired of these people.
